Former
policeman who killed George Floyd is convicted
Former
agent who murdered black man responded to 3 counts
of murder and was convicted on all of them.
Penalty will only be released in two months
The
12 jurors decided on Tuesday (20 april) that
ex-police officer Derek Chauvin is guilty
of the death of George Floyd, a suffocated
black man during a police approach in May 2020 in
Minneapolis, United States (see more in the video
above) ).
The
jury had been meeting to discuss the case and
reach a unanimous decision. Before, testimonies of
witnesses, defense and prosecution were heard in
the process. Chauvin refused to testify in court.
The
former police officer was found guilty on all
three counts of murder against the former black
security guard: cause death, unintentionally,
through a dangerous act, without regard for human
life negligence in taking the conscious risk of
causing Floyd's death manslaughter.
The
sentence will still be announced by the judge in
two months - in the United States, it is common
that only days later the convict knows how much
time he will spend in prison. As soon as the
conviction was announced, Chauvin left the
courtroom in handcuffs.
