Andrea
Meza of Mexico was named Miss Universe 2020
at the pageant’s finals night held in Florida,
USA on Monday, May 17 (May 16 in Florida).
She
succeeds South Africa’s Zozibini Tunzi ,
whose reign was extended after the 2020 pageant
was postponed due to the coronavirus
pandemic.
The
rest of the top 5 was ranked as follows:
1st
runner-up: Julia Gama, Brazil
2nd
runner-up: Janick Maceta del Castillo, Peru
3rd
runner-up: Adline Castelino, India
4th
runner-up: Kimberly Jimenez, Dominican Republic.
Andrea
was selected out of 74 delegates by a judging
panel made up of eight women, including two
previous winners, entrepreneurs, and TV
personalities.
