MTV awards took place following new rules because
of coronavirus pandemic
MTV
announced on Sunday (8/30), in New York, in
the United States, the winners of the Video
Music Awards 2020 (VMA). Lady Gaga, Ariana
Grande, BTS and The Weeknd were
the highlights of the night that marked the first
major award amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Gaga
took 5 awards, including Artist of the Year
and Music of the Year, for "Rain On
Me", in partnership with Ariana Grande.
The
duet also won the awards for Best Collaboration
and Best Cinematography.
Gaga also
won the honorary Tricon Award. "I want
to share this award with everyone who is home tonight.
I hope you know that you can do that too. We are
separated now and the culture may seem less alive in
some way, but I know that the rebirth is coming, and I
know that pop culture will inspire you all. The
strength of art will empower you all ", owes
the singer after her name announced by Bella Hadidi.
The Clip
of the Year award went to Canadian The Weeknd,
which also won Best R&B.
The k-pop
band BTS won awards. The group also performed
at the event.
The award
marked a new era with the inclusion of the Home
Clip category. The trophy went to Ariana Grande
and Justin Bieber with "Stuck with
U".
